  Thanks for the release. Been meaning to ask, though: what’s with the insane banding in this series? Even with MadVR on max settings it’s noticeable.

    In short:CR is a bad source especially regarding banding for this particular show.

    Long: CR smooths their releases ending up destroying the noise which is good because noise is bad and it makes the video as a whole a lot better compress-able though this also creates banding which is difficult to get rid of at this stage. I already have my debanding settings set quite high but these scenes require atleast double that but as you’ve thought setting the settings even higher will destroy way to much detail.

    compare 1 being the banding and compare 2 being the detail loss.
    Also it was CR or MX so we chose CR to prevent other problems that come along with MX.

      Sentai’s banding is caused by more than just smoothing, I think. Something gets seriously screwed up along the way in whatever pipeline they use.

      I mean, all CR stuff has banding, but in most shows it’s quite fixable without going out of your way.
