Note: We are currently hiring people with prior experience only, and will not train from scratch (besides translators, because you need prior experience for that anyway). If this doesn’t sound like you, you’d best refrain from signing up for now.

We are not actively recruiting. However, we will still accept applications for:

• translator – we are ALWAYS recruiting translators. If you can translate it, chances are we’ll release it.

• typesetter – some experience is required, please include samples of your work when applying. For a comprehensive understanding of this role, it’s recommended that you read or at least skim through unanimated’s TS guide here. More resources can also be be found here.

• timer – arguably the easiest position to apply for, a timer ensures that the subtitles make it on, and off the screen on time. Here’s a fairly basic primer on timing by unanimated.

• editor – applicants should preferably be native English speakers, if not fluent, with a broad understanding of the English language. Extensive reading for this position can be found here.

• quality checker – a fairly straightforward role that requires you to watch every release and ensure that it is error-free. You will be expected to look at typesetting, grammatical errors, rephrasing awkward lines, timing, and encoding errors, all with a fine tooth comb. If you don’t watch fansubs regularly and don’t know most of the ins and outs of fansubbing then you’re probably wasting your time applying for this. The best fansub QCs are the ones with prior experience.

• encoder – if you have no knowledge on modern 10-bit anime encoding (with x264 and VapourSynth or AviSynth), then it’s probably best to avoid applying for this position altogether.
