P-Please… W-Would you take this with you?
How could you say no?
Hestia still best girl.
Addendum: It seems I’ve inadvertently caused some toasters to catch fire. Firstly, I apologize for that, I wasn’t aiming to make it unplayable on low end or customized setups, I simply wanted the sexiest logo possible. Secondly, I’ve made a patch that cuts the amount of rendering needed on the logo by 75% at the cost of a slightly uglier gradient.
If the logo in the OP sputters or freezes during video playback, the patch linked below is for you!

Arigatou!
Took you long enough mate
The delay was only 0.03 Flags.
Thank you! ^_^
This show is produced at 900p why won’t you give it the same treatement as Owari no Seraph?
Different shows have different encoders doing them.
I wouldn’t mind doing higher resolution encodes sometime but not for DanMachi. Neither of the sources I looked at (CR and BS11) were worth it imo.
Is it normal for CPU usage to spike up to 100% during the OP?
Not really. There isnt much going on in the OP as of right now.
For some reason, my setup (MPC-HC, CCCP) doesn’t like the typeset logo at the beginning of the OP. I’ll try resetting everything to default.
Hmm, can’t edit replies? Anyway, resetting everything to default seemed to have fixed it.
Excellent.
I’ll see if I can reduce the gradient steps in the logo for next week.
Thanks
I don’t know if anyone else has this problem but your DanMachi Ep. 2 doesn’t play right on Media Player Classic. All your other releases play just fine on MPC for me. Any reason why that would happen?
same deal had to go with fffansubs for this one..
http://i.imgur.com/YdsZ6Fi.png Help me how do I fix
Download the sub here:
https://storage.animetosho.org/attachments/0001b4c3/%5BDameDesuYo%5D%20DanMachi%20-%2002%20%281280×720%2010bit%20AAC%29%20%5B2CB87E2F%5D_track3_eng.ass.xz
Then go to MPC-HC press “ctrl+l” then load the sub
I bet your download is corrupted or didn’t complete. Download and install Anime Checker, open it, then drag and drop your download onto it. It’ll tell you if you need to re-download it.
Alright I’ll do those when I get back home. I rechecked the torrent and it says 100% so I assume corrupted. I have shit bandwidth cap so redownloading would suck
You can force most bittorrent clients to recheck the files. It’ll then pick out each piece that’s bad or incomplete then redownload just that much smaller piece.
Yeah mine says it’s fine. I’m doing the sub load thing now just cause lazy and bandwidth cap OP
All right. Did you try animechecker? That’s a good way to check the vast majority of group’s subs to see if they are corrupt or not
The subtitles load into the video but won’t play. I really don’t want to redownload the episode that sucks. I’ll check it in animechecker but I assume it’s corrupted
AnimeChecker says it’s fine. I’m using CCCP latest version. I think I’ll just redownload it later
Sorry about that :\
Does it not play from the very beginning? U might try hopping on IRC and we can try troubleshooting there if you want
I know its an already settled matter, but could you guys please think about using honorifics? Granted, the show is not Japanese-y (as Begna had pointed out) but they really use use honorifics heavily in the anime. I personally prefer DDY’s subs over others’ so can you at least mull over this lonesome fan’s request, DDY-senpai?
Honorrifics like -sama or -kun really feels out of place and awkward in fantasy setting like this, ya know =_= ;;
Well, they DO use it quite heavily. As for being “awkward”… I don’t know. I guess to each his own preference :)
Just saying that I would have liked to see honorifics included. If the guys decide otherwise, no problem. Subs are really good either way.
I did an edit of the first episodes script if you want honorifics. Check the first episodes post if you want the download. However, I’ve been trying to work on the 2nd episode and can’t extract the subs. This is a bit of a similar problem to the conversation above and below me.
THANKS Kuroneko-sama! I assume you use either mkvcleaver or Aegisubs directly. I’ve never had problems with those, especially mkvcleaver…
Can’t load the subs Narcissisdick posted in Aegiesubs, tells me there’s no fallbacks or something then closes. Redownloading now I have no idea what happened
I redownloaded and there’s still no subtitles. I’m clicking the link from here and downloading from http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=677964. I don’t know what’s going on
bad encoding maybe.. was the same for me had to use another group for this episode.
Can a check on the encoding please be done? I’ve tried re-downloading this episode several times and still can’t pull up the subs in Aegisub.
I don’t know why I’m bothering to respond to all this shit since I’m not working on anything this season, but why the fuck not.
The subs work fine; if you can’t play them in MPC then I’ll guess that something is going wrong on your part. Don’t even ask about VLC, because fuck that piece of shit.
I can even extract the subs myself myself so I have no fucking clue what you’re on about.
Also, why anyone would give a shit about honourifics in this show is beyond me. They add absolutely nothing to the dialogue, and having all the “kun”‘s and “sama”‘s added in isn’t going to do jack-shit to the quality of the script. You pretty much have to be a complete drongo to think the honourifics are important.
tl;dr quit whining
And if you really want to add in honorifics or something like that by yourself, it’s very simple, really:
1. get mkvtoolnix for the muxing tools you’ll need, and aegisub for editing the subs
2. extract the subs from the release with mkvextract
3. make sure you have the .ass file and edit it with Aegisub
4. save
5. drag the release and your edited subs into mkvmerge
6. disable the release’s subtitle track
7. mux
You know this boils down to “Well I don’t like it so no body else should!” I’m not the only one here that enjoys them. This is just me speaking but honorifics is apart of the eastern culture I enjoy. Having that piece of culture when I watch my show is meaningful. Additionally, I have no problem going back to edit the subs. I often watch seasonal shows 2-3 times.
Also I can play the release fine in MPC, the problem is I get this every time in Aegissub…http://imgur.com/boCUcuL I’ve finally figured a work around so here are the subs with honorifics if anyone wants them, http://a.pomf.se/yrasda.ass
I don’t mean to be insensitive to your opinion but ultimately we sub the show the way that we think it should be subbed. That means we do it the way we want. You are more than welcome to readd the honorifics if you so choose but we take our subs seriously and put a lot of thought into how things like honorifics should be handled.
>honorifics is apart of the eastern culture I enjoy
fuckin weebs
>You know this boils down to “Well I don’t like it so no body else should!” I’m not the only one here that enjoys them.
That’s just your selfish perception. It really boils down to them subbing the series to THEIR TASTE for people that share it. You’re just crying butt hurt because you happen to disagree. I Don’t want to see honorifics in a show that is clearly based on EUROPE.
I also see your whining that you can’t extract their subs as extremely rude. It’s ironic, funny and sad all at the same time. That one who wants honorifics for no real reason apart from basking in the shallowest form of another culture doesn’t even know their primary reason for use in that culture. That is to avoid being rude.
>eastern culture
Of course, Western culture has nothing at all close to honorifics, we don’t even have names, everyone just calls everyone else “you”.
Good observation Mr.Steinr that is indeed one hardcore pixelated weeaboo
That’s not exactly true. There’s a clear, implied difference in respect and social standing between me calling you Sir/Ma’am/Lady BeerWench, Doctor/Professor BeerWench, Mister/Miss BeerWench, BeerWench, and Master/Mistress BeerWench, et cetera.
Not to mention titles used within religion and royalty (Baron/Baroness, etc…).
The biggest difference is we usually prefix our honorifics, the Japanese suffix them. Switching it up (for example: BeerWench Sir) sounds odd to us, and thus it’s usually only used to gather attention.
Wikipedia for more.
@ITSP
>That’s not exactly true.
That was exactly the point I was trying to show.
I was being sarcastic when I said “Of course, Western culture has nothing at all close to honorifics” as made obvious by “we don’t even have names, everyone just calls everyone else “you”.” Right after that I (a Westerner) called Steinr by name and with a Western honorific.
I should point out that KN25 said “honorifics is apart of the eastern culture I enjoy. ” I took this to mean that honorifics as a whole are unique only to “Eastern culture”. Had he said “I enjoy seeing Eastern [Japanese] honorifics in my subs” I’d have been far less mean/sarcastic. As that was not the case, I decided to show his argumentum ad absurdum by saying what I said there.
Extra points to you for being super nice :-)
Also, English isn’t my native language so I could well be wrong about this, but isn’t it perfectly fine to use “sir” as a suffix. I hear it used like that all the time here in the States. However, to the best of my knowledge, no other Western honorific is used like that. And should they be, it does indeed sound strange.
I’d say sir isnt used as a suffix in those cases but more as a secondary address, probably in a military setting where they almost always end addresses to higher ranking officers with sir.
Lol guys chill. I prefer honorifics too because in most shows it adds something of worth. In this show, tho… Not really.
It sounds like you’ve extracted the wrong track from the .mkv, or you haven’t extracted anything at all. Aegisub is designed to work with subtitle files. The fact it can open Matroska containers doesn’t mean it always will be able to. The error is not an encoding fault, but a limitation in the method you’re using to view the subtitles in Aegisub.
