A quick note about one line in your subs.
At 8:40
“If there’s such a thing as a soul,”
“then it appears that god has no plans to help you.”
He says “Kare”, not “Kami”. He’s referring to the Kakuja Quinqe “Arata” they’re using. He’s basically saying that Arata has no intention to lend them his power.
It makes more sense that way.

What Owl is basically saying is that “Arata”, the ghoul that the CCG killed and took his Kagune and made those prototype suits out of, doesn’t want to lend the CCG his power and that’s why the suits are eating into them.
I didn’t know/remember (split cour ftw) about that Arata / Kagune stuff etc.
I thought it was just too literal translation, coz both FUNi and DDY didn’t make sense to me.
